It is very common to drop clothing sizes but not weight.
One reason is that your body composition may change, so your clothes fit better. If you have a lot of white adipose tissue, the fat around your organs, you can convert that into brown fat (fat that is good for you in the subcutaneous fat). Additionally, you may be building muscle.
You may also be retaining water that is hiding the fat loss that your body is going through.
If, at first, they fit better, then nothing happens for 4-8 weeks; it may be a plateau. You aren’t doing anything wrong; you just may need to do something different. Your body is trying to defend the higher body weight and potentially be trying to push your weight back up.
