Episode Notes

How can I lose weight without counting calories?

Counting calories is controlled starvation, and it works when it is sustained and done correctly.

An alternative is a low-carb diet where you stick to a list of approved foods. These foods help you feel full much more quickly, resulting in lower calorie consumption because they are natural. They also prevent high insulin levels known to cause weight gain.

With medication added to this diet by professionals, the effect is dramatic.

What are your tips to keep food off my mind?

Emphasis must be placed on occupying the mind because if not, the mind will focus on food or any form of addiction the person is struggling with. Therefore, engaging in a journey to find pleasurable activities that occupy the mind and keep it off food is imperative.

What advice do you have for people who want to give up?

Don’t give up; the finish line’s the grave. How you eat can either extend your life or take you quickly to the grave, with many health problems along the way.

This train of thought is the best way to view your diet in the long term. So make sure you get back on track as soon as possible. You need to forgive yourself and keep working on yourself.

What’s the best way to feel full on a vegetarian diet without carbs?

Ideally, a vegetarian diet will have a lot of plant-based carbohydrates. However, most people remain hungry after a plant-based diet, so adding protein and fat improves satiety.

Vegetarians can also get whey protein from milk; unlike people not on a vegetarian diet who get protein and fat from many animal sources, they must go the extra mile to find complete protein sources.

Water helps with satiety too.

For vegans, it is essential to get protein powder containing different plant types to balance out the amino acid profiles; an example is Vega Protein Powder.

What is your go-to meal that feels like you are cheating?

Dr. Simonds prepares a low-carb pizza without using regular dough. Instead, he used canned chicken, eggs, parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, red sauce without added sugar, mozzarella cheese, homemade meatballs, and olives.
